WHAT AREAS DO YOU CURRENTLY COVER?

Safe hands currently covers any area within a 150 mile radius of Bristol.

 

WILL IT COST ME MORE IF I LIVE FURTHER AWAY?

Unfortunately yes. The rising cost of fuel now means higher charges for initial visits and travel costs. All taking into account fuel, time spent traveling and depreciation of vehicle.

 

WILL YOU STAY AT THE HOUSE DURING THE DAY TO KEEP MY DOGS COMPANY?

Yes we will. We may need to nip out for groceries at some stage but if you need us there 24/7 that’s what we will do.

 

WILL ANYONE ELSE VISIT MY PROPERTY WHILE I’M AWAY.

Safe hands will never invite strangers to the house unless we have agreed it with you prior to the sit. The only people likely to need to visit will be necessary for the wellbeing of animals or daily life I.E vets, delivery men, handymen etc. No parties we promise!

 

CAN YOU EXERCISE MY HORSES?

Yes, but this will incur extra charges as not every sitter will be insured and capable. Horse riding is a dangerous activity for even the most confident, experienced rider so we would like to avoid this activity unless absolutely necessary. For safety reasons, Lunging and long reining are prefered methods of exercise while sitter is alone on farm.

 

CAN YOU LOOK AFTER MY DAIRY FARM?

Unfortunately no. we are unable to assist on dairy farms or large farms of more than 100 acres.

 

WILL I NEED TO LEAVE YOU FOOD?

Safe hands does not require food to be left for sitters.  However, if you have food that needs using up well we hate to see waste! and would be more than happy to munch that up for you.

 

WILL YOU BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING AND TOWELS?

Safe hands will assume that bedding will be provided for sitterS.  Most sitters will however bring their own towels but you are welcome to leave some, just incase.

 

WILL YOU KEEP IN TOUCH WHILE WE ARE AWAY?

Safe hands will be more than happy to give you as much or as little contact as you’d like! If you’d prefer peace and quiet that’s no problem, you will only be contacted in a relevant  emergency. If you’d like regular updates, pictures, face time chats? That’s no problem too, Just let us know when we arrive or at initial visit.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PETS GET SICK WHILE YOU ARE THERE?

We will do everything we can to help that animal. We will contact you if you wish and call the vet if necessary.  We will liaise with vets and do everything in our power to help that animal. If it means staying up all night with a sick horse, or hourly checks on a poorly ewe. Whatever the situation, it will be dealt with in a professional, calm and caring manor with no complaints or extra charges. Our service is to provide the best care and that is what we shall do!

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING THE SIT?

Lets face it! No one can change the weather! We can barely even predict it most of the time! Safe hands have coped in many adverse weather situations including relentless heat and the beast from the east! Terrible weather obviously makes the work a lot harder but we always take the time of year into consideration when quoting the price. Whatever the weather we will do everything we can to look after your animals.

 

CAN I BOOK A YEAR IN ADVANCE?

Yes, there is no limit to how far ahead you can book.

 

DO YOU CHARGE MORE OVER CHRISTMAS?

Yes. There are daily surcharges for dates around christmas and easter. Please check our SERVICES AND FEES page for more info.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG AND OUR JOURNEY BACK IS DELAYED?

Safe hands will do their very best to keep a sitter onsite until you are a reasonable distance away or have returned. In the event that you are more than an hour late then extra charges will need to be paid on return. (see SERVICES AND FEES page)
